We are Jack and Kaya (Birdy) Lungu, Birdy handles the baking, and Jack handles the photos and business side of things, at least until we open our physical restaurant.. then he'll be handling the Romanian dishes too!

So Birdy has always enjoyed baking, she started off in the kitchen baking brownies with her grandmother as a child and hasn't been able to let it go since. Now she spends her time in the kitchen working on new recipes for sourdough bread, with a four year old starter that she's been able to maintain and help thrive along the way.

Jack on the other hand became a man at young age, that being around 11 years old when he could stir the mamaliega without leaving any clumps of cornmeal. Growing up, Romanian food was on the menu constantly, and the comradery, connection, and savory, sour, and complex flavors is something that everyone should experience.

Right now, we are just starting off and making this happen as a "Cottage Food Business" based out of southeast Alabama. What that means is that currently, we can only make and sell shelf stable foods, like the ones that you see on our sight. These products haven't been inspected by the department of health, but both Birdy and Jack have their Serv Safe Food Handler Certificates, so you can rest assured that your bread is being made in a sanitary and safe way.

The products that we sell may also contain allergens. There are nine major allergens, and depending which loaf you order, there may be more than one present, so make sure you read our ingredient list if you have any food allergies!

To wrap this up, we appreciate you just visiting our site! Each order is completed on a first come first serve basis, and when you place your order, we'll let you know when your loaf will go into the oven, and as soon as it's done cooling off, it'll be shipped right to your doorstep.

Once you receive your order, we suggest using it as soon as possible since we don't add any preservatives, and if you want to save some for later, just refer to the Bread Care Card that we include with each order in case you want to save some for later.
